Part Templates

The Part Templates drop down will bring the user to a Part Template view page. Creating a part template can be very useful for creating future parts. Creating a template allows the user to enter attributes into that part. This can make creating future parts easier as the user would not have to manually enter in every single attribute for a part. To create a new part templates, click on the "ADD NEW PART TEMPLATES" button. The user will then enter a name for the part template and press the "SAVE" button. This will bring the user to an "Edit Part Template" view page.

From this page the user can enter new attributes to the attribute template for this part template. To do this, click on the "ADD NEW ATTRIBUTE TEMPLATE" button. The user can add as many new attribute templates as desired, as long as the user clicks the "SAVE" button. If the user clicks the "CANCEL CHANGES" button before the "SAVE" button is clicked, the new information will all be deleted. The attributes will be automatically assigned a sort number, but the user can manually change the sort by clicking in the sort column box of the attribute the user wants to change. Now if the user goes back to the Machines drop down page and creates or edits an existing machine, the user can add the part template that was just created.

The user can go down to the parts section and click the "ADD NEW PART" button. From this point, the user enters the part template that was just created. If the user clicks on the "ATTRIBUTES" button, the user will notice that the attribute templates that were added to the part template are already inserted into the attributes for this part. If the user changes the part template at any time, any existing machine that uses that part template will be updated. For example, if the user adds another attribute template to the part template, any machine that uses that part template will update the attributes to match with the part template. If the user is on the "Edit Machine" page and decides to manually add another attribute to the parts template that is being used, the part template will not be updated. Only editing the part template by going to the part template drop down will update the attributes across the system, that way a user can add more attributes to a machine part with out affecting any of the templates.
